The Texas Family Code also addresses the mandatory reporting of child abuse, including human trafficking. The law provides any person who has reason to believe that a child has been abused or neglected shall make a report to law enforcement or DFPS.

As of 2017, the offense can also be enhanced to a first degree felony if the commission of the offense results in the death of an unborn child of the person who is trafficked.
